Our Fall feast table is inspired by the simplicity of the plains and prairie landscapes which afford such a rich yet unique aesthetic experience--one of quiet sunsets, hidden treasures, and abundance, all worthy of contemplation and celebration. This table is about reflecting the spirit of the changing seasons that brings a sense of kinship and gathering. We decided on a neutral color palette full of texture mixed with rich, saturated, regal tones.
We wanted to embrace the notion of outdoor dining at a feast surrounded by friends and loved ones. The outdoor space was framed with a small forest and various rock outcroppings that sloped gently to the north. We chose a simple greenery garland for the center of the table with two large copper lanterns filled with swaths of dried wheat. The table was layered with simple white plates, olivewood drink trays, vintage glassware, and bronze flatware. We asked handwriting artist/calligrapher Alicia Lantzy of On Three Designs to create canvas menus with plum colored ink and placecards made of dried walnut shells.
