When you end up with friends who have homes with years of design investment you get overly excited when they will let you take over their dining room for a Valentine’s brunch centered around friendship. Sometimes many of those around us just need to be reminded that they are amazing. This table is about spreading that feeling to others on a holiday that may leave some without a reason to celebrate. We decided on a simple elegant take on the traditional pink and red. We used layers of leather, soft tulle, and glass to accentuate the antique hand scraped table.
We wanted this to be a relaxed “pour your own cocktail” kind of gathering and decided waffles would be the order of the day. We made a special strawberry coconut butter for topping, and the rest is history.

Yield : 1 CUP
5 medium size ripe strawberries, or enough to loosely fill 1 cup, diced
1 ½ tablespoons of coconut nectar (We got ours at Whole Foods)
8 tablespoons of unsalted butter, at room temperature
a pinch of sea salt
Dice strawberries and mash or puree them to a fine pulp. Add in the coconut nectar and stir until thoroughly mixed.
Combine this with the butter and stir until smooth. This can be stored for about a week in a covered container.
